Hi guys! I’m back with another review already. I’ve been trying out these Nuxe products from the “I am prodigious” gift set for about a month now, so I thought it was about time to share my thoughts and prevent you from making the same mistakes I made…it’s not all bad but some shade will be thrown. Before any tea is spilled, let’s talk about what’s included in the gift set.
I’m actually not sure what this set is called and if it’s one you can purchase or one of those ‘gift with purchase’ brands sometimes give away. I received it as part of a gift so I’m not sure, but I do know they have other kits available for sale. Either way, the products included are definitely ones that are available to buy in full size. The particular kit I have, comes with four sample sized products, a cute heart shape mirror and a beautiful makeup bag (my favourite part of the set). The products are:
- Huile Prodigieuse (Multi-purpose dry oil)
- Micellar Cleansing Water (with rose petals)
- Crème Prodigieuse (Anti-fatigue moisturizer)
- Hand and Nail Cream
Alright let’s get into my thoughts on each of these minis:
First, let’s talk about the micellar cleansing water. It’s supposed to remove both eye and face makeup gently, without having to follow up with a rinse. I was actually impressed with it! It really does a great job at easily removing makeup without having to scrub and definitely left my skin feeling very clean. Most Micellar cleansers do tend to claim that rinsing is not necessary, but I’m a double cleansing girl so I did follow it up with a rinse anyway. My only problem with it is the smell (this is a theme). I can’t figure out what it smells like. Rotten roses? I don’t know! All I know is that it’s not a good one.
The “Crème Prodigieuse” is easily my least liked product from the set. In fact, I hate it. It has a horribly strong perfume scent that literally gives me a headache. I forced myself to use it to be able to share my thoughts on it and let’s just say it’s been a looong month! I had to limit myself and only use it in my morning routine so that I could be distracted from the smell. I made the mistake of putting it on at night once and almost died!! It smells like a condensed Macy’s perfume counter. Like whyyy?!?! Also, it did nothing for my skin which was left dry AF. Not impressed.
L’ Huile Prodigieuse is the only product in the set that has a pleasant scent. It’s light and doesn’t assault my nose which is very much appreciated. It’s also the only product of the bunch that I would re-purchase if I had to. I say if I had to because I feel like it’s more of a luxe purchase since I didn’t find that it provided too much moisture. But I do enjoy using it on the skin, since it leaves a pretty subtle glow without feeling oily. I’ve also used it to run through the ends of my hair to add some shine which I enjoyed as well.
Unfortunately, the hand cream smells just as bad as the moisturizer! It’s a little less awful since it gets applied further from your nose but I just cannot. It’s too bad because I like the formula. It quickly absorbs into the skin and is non-greasy. I’ve resolved to only using it when I’m doing my nails and will me applying the tiniest amount to my nail and cuticle area.
As pretty as this set was to photograph I will definitely not be re-purchasing. I really found the scents offensive and didn’t think the products were worth the torture. If you’re sensitive to smells this is NOT the range for you. But this is my personal opinion so maybe you might like it but you’ve been warned, smell with caution. I’m pretty bummed about my experience with these products, I’ve always been curious about Nuxe and thought of the brand as good/fancy Parisian skin care but alas (lol so much drama).
Hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful. If you’ve tried any of these products or anything else from Nuxe let me know what you thought of them in the comments!
